The Iowa Transportation Commission on Tuesday approved an amended Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy (RISE) grant application submitted by the city of Johnston. An additional $1.38 million was approved for a total award of up to $6.33 million. The nearly 1.5-mile extension of Northwest 62nd Avenue will provide access to a proposed expansion project for Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. The commission also approved a RISE grant of $417,800 to Polk City for an extension of East Vista Lake Avenue, which will provide access to the Big Creek Technology Campus on the city’s northeast side.
