Report: Vision Iowa provided return on investment
Iowa State University released a report yesterday done by its economics faculty and students that found the state’s Vision Iowa program provided an annual 9.2 percent return on investment in terms of increased sales tax revenue through 2008. The program was instituted in 2001 to enhance recreational, cultural, educational and entertainment attractions available across the state. The study found that the program spurred nearly $2 billion in new public facilities and improvements through 393 projects in 94 Iowa counties. The research came from data released by the Iowa Department of Revenue, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Iowa Department of Economic Development.
