The State Historical Museum, 600 E. Locust St., will open a major new exhibition, “Iowa and the Civil War: Nothing but Victory,” on April 14. The 10,000-square-foot exhibition will feature more than 300 authentic artifacts and documents, some of which will be on display for the first time, with exhibits recounting the firsthand experiences of Iowans at war and the communities that supported them. As part of opening-day events of the yearlong exhibition, Civil War re-enactors from the Sons of Confederate Veterans will interact with visitors. Admission is free and open to the public. Visit www.iowahistory.org or call 281-5111 for more information.
