Target Corp. is remodeling 90 of its general merchandise stores, including two in Greater Des Moines, to offer a full selection of affordable fresh foods.

The Target stores to receive the expansion include those located at 3414 Eighth St. S.W. in Altoona and 5901 Douglas Ave. in Des Moines.

Construction is expected to be completed on June 24. In March, stores located at 1800 Valley West Drive in West Des Moines and 2910 First Ave. in Fort Dodge received the same expansion. Nearly 1,000 Target stores currently offer an expanded food layout.

At these Target stores, approximately 10,000 square feet is dedicated to fresh food choices, including fresh produce, fresh packaged meat and pre-packaged baked goods, in addition to dry and frozen offerings.

By the end of the year, more than 1,100 Target stores will offer the expanded fresh food layout.
