Boardings up 4.5 percent at Des Moines International

More than 1.8 million passengers got on or off an airplane at Des Moines International Airport in 2010, a 4.5 percent increase from 2009, according to data compiled by the airport. Overall, commercial aviation activity at the airport as measured by the number of aircraft landings was down 7.3 percent last year compared with 2009, though military aircraft operations increased by nearly 6 percent. Cargo handled at the airport declined by nearly 14 percent from the prior year.
