University of Iowa Health Alliance names leader

The University of Iowa Health Alliance has named Dan Kueter, a former UnitedHealthcare executive, as its executive director.Dane Kueter, 2013

The alliance, formed in June 2012 to address the anticipated changes in health-care payment and delivery systems, consists of four major health systems in Iowa — Mercy Health Network, Genesis Health System, Mercy Medical Center – Cedar Rapids and University of Iowa Health Care. Kueter, 43, is a West Point graduate and former army officer and has an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

His experience includes more than 10 years with UnitedHealthcare, most recently as president and CEO for Iowa and Central Illinois. Kueter lives in Bettendorf with his wife and three children.
