Larry Noble will retire July 5 as commissioner of the Iowa Department of Public Safety, Gov. Terry Branstad’s office said in a news release. “I have reached a point where I want to spend more time with my family, and balancing the needs of a seven-day-a-week job with personal responsibilities makes that very difficult,” Noble said in the news release. He has held the post for 17 months, as long as Branstad has been office.
