The 2012 Des Moines Arts Festival and Des Moines Art Center will enlist the creative talents of festival guests to help create a Pop Art Explosion. This giant interactive puzzle will be assembled throughout the festival this weekend June 22-24, in downtown Des Moines’ Western Gateway Park.

Be one of 1,200 people to pick up a paintbrush and create a larger-than-life puzzle piece to be joined together to form a three-dimensional sculpture.

These pieces will be organically assembled throughout the three-day festival, morphing into a hefty sculpture. The collaborative project is inspired by designs and motifs found in works of art by Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Tara Donovan and Roy Lichtenstein.

All of the materials used for this project are earth-friendly from the paints to the puzzle pieces. Each piece was made from 100 percent recycled boards from The ReWall Co. LLC.
