Car repairs in Iowa some of the cheapest

Drivers in Iowa had the nation’s fourth-lowest car repair costs on average in 2011, according to a report released by CarMD Corp.

Iowans paid about $289.91 on average for car repairs, or $177.32 for parts and $112.59 for labor, on average. Drivers in Wyoming paid the most for car repairs, at about $389 a visit on average, and drivers in Indiana paid the least, about $283.

Nationally, the average cost of repairs dropped 6 percent from 2010, due to a decrease in labor costs, according to the report. To see the entire rankings, click here.
