Popular Ames restaurant The Fighting Burrito will open a new location in downtown Des Moines by the end of the summer, said store owner Matthew Goodman.

The 25,000-square-foot store will sit at the corner of 13th and Locust Streets and seat more than 80 people, he said, adding that the new restaurant will be three times the size of the Ames location.

The Fighting Burrito offers a healthier lunch choice made with fresh ingredients and sauces. Goodman sits on the Ames City Council and said his businesses are very community focused, something he wants to replicate here in Des Moines.
