Nollen Plaza redesign moves ahead
Civic Center of Greater Des Moines President Jeff Chelesvig said today that a decision could be made in the next six to eight months about raising funds for a redesign of downtown’s Nollen Plaza. New York designer Ken Smith, a Waukee native, presented the latest proposal to about 100 people at the Civic Center’s Stoner Theater to a favorable response. Chelesvig emphasized that the plan, featuring a more usable public event space and a more inviting grove, is preliminary. “We do not know what it might cost or how we’re going to pay for it,” he said.
