Gas prices going up and up
Average retail gasoline prices in Des Moines have risen 8.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.49 per gallon on March 27. The national average has increased 3.4 cents per gallon in the past week to $3.56, according to gasoline price website DesMoinesGasPrices.com. Prices on March 27 were 78.1 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and 16 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 21.5 cents per gallon during the past month and stands 76.5 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
