Fleur Drive detours begin Monday
The city of Des Moines will begin work to rehabilitate the Fleur Drive viaduct between Bell Avenue and George Flagg Parkway on Monday.
The project will include the complete replacement to the concrete bridge deck, which will require closing the bridge to all traffic for about three months.
During the project’s first stage, northbound traffic on Fleur will be detoured to travel east onto Bell Avenue to Southwest Seventh Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, and southbound traffic will be detoured to travel west onto George Flagg Parkway to Southwest 30th Street to Bell Avenue.
During the second stage, scheduled to begin Aug. 5, one lane of traffic in each direction will be restored across the bridge.
