Iowa’s gasoline tax rate will remain unchanged in the upcoming fiscal year, state officials announced this morning. Under legislation enacted in 2001 and extended in 2008, the Iowa Department of Revenue must adjust the rate based on the percentage of ethanol blended gasoline sold during the previous calendar year. During 2010, that percentage remained in the 70 to 75 percent range, so the tax on regular gasoline will remain at the current rate of 21 cents per gallon. The rate was last changed on July 1, 2008. Other fuel tax rates will also remain the same, including ethanol blended gasoline at 19 cents and E85 blended gasoline at 17 cents per gallon.
