Metro Waste Authority’s (MWA) asphalt shingle recycling program received the Recycling Project of the Year award from the Iowa Recycling Association.

Through the program, shingles delivered to MWA for recycling are cleaned, ground up and used in hot mix asphalt, in accordance with state Department of Transportation specifications. MWA Executive Director Tom Hadden said in a press release that the organization has recycled more than 3,700 tons of shingles.
