The Briarwood Club of Ankeny, a former public golf course that went private in 2009, is under the ownership of Voyager Bank of Eden Prairie, Minn., after a deed transfer that resulted from a loan default. The bank intends to meet with members and the course’s management to lay out plans that will increase membership and provide other improvements. “Right now we are in active listening mode — sitting down with the talented and committed management and employee team and a core group of enthusiastic members, to shape what the club can become for the future,” said Brad Cook of Voyager Bank. According to Polk County property records, Voyager Bank acquired the club after previous owners defaulted on a $1.3 million loan.
