The West Des Moines Marriott has been acquired by Inland American Lodging Group Inc. The Oak Brook, Ill.-based subsidiary of Inland American Real Estate Trust Inc. purchased the 219-room hotel at 1250 Jordan Creek Parkway and three other Marriott-branded hotels, including two in Pittsburgh and one in West Palm Beach, Fla., from Moody National Cos. for a total price of $80 million. Concord Hospitality Enterprises, which had existing management contracts that were extended to run through 2020, will continue to manage the hotels.
Wells Fargo Financial Leasing Inc. is one of two Wells Fargo & Co. business units that have signed an agreement to become the preferred provider of medical practice and equipment financing to American Medical Association (AMA) physicians. Des Moines-based Wells Fargo Financial and Matsco, Wells Fargo’s practice finance group based in Emeryville, Calif., will offer a range of financial products to AMA members, including practice acquisition, start-up and expansion, and commercial real estate and medical equipment leasing.
The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) is looking for local bus riders to fill three vacancies, including two at-large seats, on its Transit Riders Advisory Committee. The Polk County provider of public transportation is encouraging riders who would like to advise DART commissioners and staff to apply at www.ridedart.com. The 13-member volunteer committee, which was formed in 2009 as a forum for riders to relay their needs and concerns directly to DART staff, meets downtown every other month.
Social Media Club Des Moines, whose mission is to promote social media literacy and share best practices in social media, will host a panel discussion with four local businesses. On June 9, Reid Travis of Panchero’s Mexican Grill, Phil James of Café di Scala, Larry James Jr. of Mars Café and Katie Ketelsen of TimberPine Nursery & Greenhouse will meet at Ciao restaurant in West Des Moines from 7 to 8:30 p.m. to discuss the good, bad and ugly of social media and how the applications have positively affected their businesses.
