Bob Brammer, communications director for Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller, announced Monday that he will retire. Miller has chosen veteran KCCI reporter Geoff Greenwood to fill the position. Brammer worked for the attorney general’s office for 31 years.
Principal Financial Group Foundation Inc. has awarded a $5,000 grant to Iowans for Social and Economic Development to promote digital literacy. The Digital Bridge Program will give low-income households in Des Moines training on how to use technology that could help them advance to a better career.
Chrysler announced Monday that it is recalling 600,000 cars in the United States for brake and wiring issues. The recall affects 2006-2010 Jeep Wranglers because of brake fluid leaks and 2008-2009 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country vans because faulty wiring could lead to fires. Read more.
A defense contractor that drew criticism for its involvement in shootings in Baghdad announced Monday that it will put itself up for sale. Xe Services, LLC formerly known as Blackwater, will sell itself, and officials said in a statement that management has made “significant changes and improvements.” Read more.
Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Inc., showed off the new iPhone 4 in San Francisco on Monday. The highly anticipated new phone is thinner than previous iPhones and features two video cameras, allowing users to make video calls. Read more.
