Iowa public transportation to receive more than $12 million

Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) announced yesterday that a total of $12,459,306 will go toward improving public transportation from the fiscal year 2010 transportation appropriations bill.

The Iowa Department of Transportation will receive $5 million to replace buses across the state. Dubuque’s Keyline Transit System will receive $2,303,306.

CyRide in Ames will receive $3,688,000. The city of Cedar Rapids will receive $1,468,000 to replace old buses and to create an intermodal transit facility.
