On Thursday, Gov. Chet Culver released a report by the Upper Midwest Transmission Development Initiative that identified six renewable energy transmission corridors connecting more than 15,000 megawatts of wind development in the region, including two in Iowa. According to a release, the build-out of the transmission lines in the two corridors – one in Central Iowa and another that parallels the state’s northern border – would create an estimated 600 jobs. “If fully developed,” the release said, “the lines within these corridors will help realize the full economic potential of the region’s wind and other clean energy resources.”
