Arts Festival artist invites announced
More than 180 professional visual artists, representing 33 states, have been invited to the 14th annual Des Moines Arts Festival. Sixty percent will be new to the event, the Downtown Community Alliance said in a release. A three-person jury sorted through more than 1,000 applications to select the artists who will be invited to the event, which is scheduled to take place June 24-26, 2011, in Western Gateway Park. The selections were made without the jurors knowing the artists’ identities. Twenty-two Emerging Iowa Artists are also expected to participate.
