A local bar owner and a 22-year veteran of commercial real estate sales have partnered to turn the former Loft nightclub at 801 73rd St. in Windsor Heights into a classy, neighborhood-friendly bar and lounge called The Club House.

“The place kind of went to the birds a little bit in terms of the crowd, but what we’ve done is completely remodeled and installed new leather furniture, painted, cleaned and really stepped up the atmosphere,” said Dave Stifel, one of the bar’s new owners. “We have different hours, lots of happy hour specials, complimentary happy hour food and wireless Internet.”

Stifel and his partner, Brad Lathrop, who also owns Bradley’s Pub on 50th Street and Joe’s Pub in Johnston, took possession of the building on March 1. They opened for business March 23 and celebrated the grand opening April 24.

“It was too beautiful of a lodge-style building to let go to waste,” Stifel said. “So we refurbished all of the cherry woodwork and just wanted it to gain a reputation as a really nice cool neighborhood pub. The goal is to bring it back to a neighborhood-friendly, safe place for everyday patrons to hang out at after work and during happy hour.”

The Club House is open from noon to 2 a.m. every day, with live acoustical music every Thursday night.
