Cell Works Inc. will sell 30 of its cancer, medical and diagnostic patents through an online auction conducted by IpAuctions Inc. the week of July 16. A therapeutic drug for liver cancer, which was granted orphan drug status by the Food and Drug Administration, is among the patents on the auction block.

Maryland-based Cell Works is also auctioning a drug delivery system that specifically targets a patient’s diseased organ. This avoids damage to other healthy organs by the cancer drugs. One diagnostic tool for sale identifies micro-tumors in body fluid samples.
