Pedal for the Pantry aims to raise funds to address food insecurity

179 wordsAll Latest News, Iowa Stops HungerThe Urbandale Food Pantry will host the 2023 Pedal for the Pantry on Aug. 27 and will provide riders with a choice of three custom routes in Polk County. Registration and packet pickup for the John Deere bike route through the western suburbs and the Van Meter Inc. route through Des Moines will be between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., with the ride starting at 10 a.m. The starting point for the John Deere route will be at Kinship Brewing Co. in Waukee, and the starting point for the Van Meter route will be at 515 Brewing Co. in Clive. The two routes will include stops at participating breweries for discounts on drinks. A third, family-friendly route is new this year and will include Kona Ice for riders. The West Bank family-friendly route will start at Lauridsen Amphitheater at Water Works Park in Des Moines. Registration and packet pickup for that route is between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., with the ride starting at 11 a.m. More information about the event and how to register is available here.
