Seminar aims to help Spanish speakers avoid fraud

The event will take place from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27 at the Des Moines Area Religious Council’s food distribution center at 100 Army Post Road. The seminar will highlight how language barriers are often a tool scammers use to steal personal information and financial assets. Speakers will provide tips, warnings and best practices related to protecting financial assets. The Iowa Insurance Division, along with the Iowa Attorney General’s Office, the Senior Health Insurance Information Program and the Senior Medicare Patrol, will help run the event. Des Moines-based nonprofit Al Exito will be a co-host. More details about the event are available here.
