Lutheran Services in Iowa got a $10,000 grant from Accenture to support LSI’s Immigrant Education and Workforce Program in Des Moines and Sioux City. IEWP includes the Career Pathways program and Community Based English Language Learning classes, as well as other programs to support new Iowans as they integrate into the state’s workforce. The supports assist new populations in understanding the U.S. workplace and in identifying and accessing the necessary resources, skills and training to assist individuals in reaching their career and economic goals. LSI’s Immigrant Education and Workforce Program couples English Language Learning classes with job placement, career exploration and coaching to ensure refugees and immigrants have appropriate support to increase their economic opportunities in their new homes.
