BioCV, a Bochum, Germany-based software company, has announced it will establish its U.S. headquarters at the Iowa State University Research Park. The company developed a livestock monitoring solution, which enables continuous monitoring of animals and provides insights into animal physiology and well being. According to a news release, BioCV uses Bluetooth sensor ear tags, which are designed to collect and certify real-time data on each animal in a decentralized manner. The technology aims to transform animal farming practices and enable farmers to make data-driven decisions and improve animal welfare. “We aim to forge a future where technology and research converge to elevate the standards of livestock farming, ensuring sustainability, productivity and animal welfare,” BioCV CEO Moritz Gansel said in a prepared statement. Next week, the BioCV team will visit Iowa State to explore potential partnerships and initiate research validation studies for its solution in the U.S. A public event recognizing the company’s U.S. headquarters will be held Oct. 24 from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Iowa State University Economic Development Core Facility, located at 1805 Collaboration Place in Ames.
