Haws named CEO of UI Hospitals and Clinics

Bradley Haws has been named chief executive officer of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and associate vice president of UI Healthcare, the health system announced today. Haws will start his new role on Nov. 29.

He previously served at UI Healthcare as chief financial officer and associate vice president from 2018 to 2021. Most recently he was CFO of Emory Healthcare, part of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.

“I am eager to come back to UI Health Care in this new role, especially during a time of transformative growth for the organization and with new opportunities to expand access to high-quality health care for Iowans,” Haws said in a prepared statement. “UI Health Care is a remarkable organization. I’ve always been inspired by its mission along with its culture of collaboration. I’m excited to work with this incredible team again.”

Other past experience includes 14 years with Intermountain Healthcare Inc. in Salt Lake City and leadership roles at the University of Virginia.

Haws succeeds Kim Hunter, who has served as interim CEO of UI Hospitals and Clinics since 2022. Hunter will continue to serve as chief nurse executive for the organization.

As a member of UI Healthcare’s executive leadership team, Haws will report to Dr. Denise Jamieson, UI vice president for medical affairs and the Tyrone D. Artz Dean of the Carver College of Medicine.

“Brad has a proven track record of excellence in health care management, particularly in academic medicine. He’s a great collaborator and brings a passion for serving our mission,” Jamieson said in a prepared statement.

Haws earned a bachelor’s degree and a master of business administration degree from Brigham Young University.
