The company’s board of directors has selected Mayuri (May) Farlinger to succeed Kouba as well as serve as vice president of operations. Kouba’s retirement and Farlinger’s appointment will both be effective May 1.

Kouba has worked for Alliant for 42 years, according to the news release.

“His empowering leadership style, experience and focus on operational excellence has served our customers well,” John Larsen, executive chairman of the board, said in a prepared statement.

Farlinger joined Alliant Energy as an intern in 2004 and has since held roles across the company’s departments, including finance, regulatory, field engineering and customer renewables. She most recently served as vice president of customer and community engagement in Iowa.

As president, Farlinger will have overall accountability for the performance of Alliant’s Iowa energy company, including responsibility for growing Alliant’s customer base in Iowa and leading the company’s economic development, community engagement and account management groups, the release said. She will continue to direct regulatory activities and initiatives supporting electric and natural gas customers in Iowa.

Farlinger is also responsible for directing and implementing the day-to-day delivery of gas and electric service and working with the company’s Safety Blue Hat program across the state.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Iowa and her MBA at St. Ambrose University in Davenport.
