Chuck Maggelet, the CEO of Maverik, which acquired Des Moines-based Kum & Go from Krause Group last year, announced his retirement effective May 1 in a video posted Friday on Maverik’s YouTube page, Convenience Store News reported.

Crystal Maggelet, chairman and CEO of Maverik’s parent company FJ Management Inc., appeared in the video with her husband Chuck, and announced she will be stepping into the CEO role temporarily. Crystal and Chuck have been married for 30 years, but the couple also announced in the video, which was later deleted from YouTube, that the two are getting divorced, cspnews.com reported.

Chuck Maggelet helped Maverik more than double the Salt Lake City-based convenience store chain’s footprint with the acquisition of Kum & Go. At the time it made the company the 12th-largest convenience store chain in the country, giving it nearly 800 stores in 20 states and more than 13,000 employees.
