41 Iowa communities receiving grants to plant 1,300 trees
Alliant Energy named 41 Iowa communities to receive grants totaling nearly $145,000 through the company’s Community Tree Planting program, part of its One Million Trees initiative. Since the program began in 1980, Alliant Energy has partnered with Iowa nonprofit Trees Forever to award more than $7.85 million in grants and plant 1.1 million trees throughout Iowa and Wisconsin. “The Community Tree Planting program grants awarded will help these Iowa communities achieve tree restoration goals, improve energy efficiency and provide environmental benefits for generations to come,” May Farlinger, vice president of customer and community engagement at Alliant Energy, said in a prepared statement.
