Beginning today, Easterseals Iowa and the Des Moines Public Library are entering into a partnership to provide a selection of assistive technology devices to the public. Assistive technology is any device that allows a person to perform a task that they are unable to do without assistance. The Easterseals Iowa Assistive Technology Center has selected a sampling of 10 assistive technology devices from its inventory, including adaptive board games like Braille Monopoly and Pen Readers that can assist individuals with dyslexia or reading difficulties to have printed words read back to them. These devices will be available through DMPL’s Library of Things, a collection of household, recreation and other non-book items. With a library card, these materials can be reserved and picked up at any of the six Des Moines Public Library locations. To learn more, visit the Des Moines Public Library website.
