Food Bank of Iowa receives donation of 40,000 pounds of macaroni and cheese

124 wordsAll Latest News, Nonprofits and PhilanthropyLand O’Lakes Inc. has donated more than 40,000 pounds of its macaroni and cheese to the Food Bank of Iowa through the Land O’Lakes First Run Program. The donation will provide more than 33,500 meals. The First Run Program delivers truckloads of product made specifically for food banks to help alleviate hunger, according to a news release. The program has donated more than 317,000 pounds of food in Iowa since 2010 and 7 million pounds nationwide. “With one in six Iowa kids facing hunger, and many at risk this summer without free and reduced-price school meals, this nutritious, easy-to-prepare macaroni and cheese could not have come at a better time,” Food Bank of Iowa CEO Michelle Book said in a prepared statement.
