Denver-based Cologix has acquired two data centers from Connect Des Moines, boosting its relationship with Iowa businesses, the company’s CEO said in a news release.

The acquisition marks Cologix’s entry into the Des Moines market, expanding its commitment to businesses in the region, Cologix CEO Laura Ortman said.

“We are excited to enter the Des Moines market and bring our industry-leading colocation and interconnection solutions to businesses in Iowa,” she said.

The data centers acquired by Cologix are designated as DSM1 and DSM2, They will be immediately integrated into the Cologix portfolio.

DSM1 is located in the Financial Center at 666 Walnut St. in downtown Des Moines. It is 4,000 square feet and has 600 kilowatts of power, enabling connectivity to 26 unique networks in the Cologix Meet-Me-Room. It also features 10,000 feet of expansion capacity with 1 megawatt of power.

The DSM2 data center is 12,500 square feet with 1 megawatt of power in Cedar Falls.

Cologix has also reached an agreement to buy land in the Des Moines market to expand its capacity to meet customers’ growing demand. Details of that agreement were not contained in the release, and emails to Cologix officials seeking information were not returned before the deadline for publication.

Ortman said dispersed and well-supported data centers are critical as companies increasingly rely on digital infrastructure.

“Our Des Moines facilities will provide businesses with the critical resources they need to scale their IT infrastructure, optimize performance and achieve their digital transformation goals,” she said in the release.
