Thousands of volunteers are needed to help with the work Nov. 4 to 9 at Meals from the Heartland’s Packaging Center, 357 Lincoln St. in West Des Moines. Morning, afternoon and evening shifts are available; individuals and groups can sign up at mealsfromtheheartland.org. Registering early means a better chance of securing a preferred shift, the news release said. Meals from the Heartland sends nutrient-dense meal packages around the world to combat starvation.
