Merit Management Group, a private equity firm headquartered in West Des Moines, has announced its acquisition of Clive Power Equipment, a provider of equipment for residential and professional lawn care, snow removal, tree care and other construction equipment. The company also has a dedicated service department with technicians and a parts inventory for most major power equipment brands. Brothers John Agans and Chuck Agans purchased Clive Power Equipment in 1996 and have created a residential and commercial customer base, according to a news release. It is the largest Toro, Exmark, and Stihl dealership in Iowa, the release said. Following the acquisition, Michael Benson has been appointed general manager of the company. Benson has previous experience leading sales, service and parts management at several implement and powersports dealerships across Iowa.
