Iowa Association of Business and Industry President Mike Ralston will receive the Manufacturing Champion Award at the 2024 Legends in Manufacturing Awards, which will be held during the Iowa Manufacturing Conference on Oct. 2. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and advocacy for the industry. Ralston is retiring from ABI at the end of the year after 19 years leading the statewide business organization. Initiatives launched during his tenure include the Iowa Manufacturing Conference, Coolest Thing Made in Iowa and Elevate Advanced Manufacturing. “In his nearly 20 years leading ABI, Mike has been a driving force, ensuring that business leaders have the climate, connections, and education to succeed,” said Mike O’Donnell, director of the Center for Industrial Research and Service at Iowa State University, in a prepared statement. “His presence and steady leadership have made him the face of Iowa industry, while his lasting individual connections have made him a trusted advisor to so many of us across the state.” To read an interview with Ralston reflecting on his career at ABI, click here.
