Johnston hires Geoff Hubbard to oversee parks

Hubbard most recently worked for the city of Marshalltown, where he oversaw the renovation of the 90-year-old Veterans Memorial Coliseum and secured a significant portion of the project’s funding, according to a news release. He also has worked in the city of Council Bluffs. Hubbard has a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and a master’s degree from Arizona State University. Hubbard will lead a team of 13 full-time employees as well as seasonal and part-time workers. He will also oversee the city’s parks, tree and senior advisory boards. Hubbard, who began his new job this week, will be paid $120,000 annually.
