Iowans recognized at Iowa Cancer Summit

Nearly 300 people convened in Ankeny for the summit as Iowa is second in the nation for cancer incidence, according to the Iowa Cancer Registry. The event recognized Holley Bermel, Katie Golberg, Bill Field and Katie Jones during the event. Bermel and Golberg, registered nurses at UnityPoint Health Clinics, were selected as Iowa Cancer Champions for implementing a quality improvement project across UnityPoint Health for at-home colorectal cancer screening. Honoring his lifetime dedication to radon research, former University of Iowa professor Field was posthumously awarded the George Weiner Cancer Control Visionary Award. Jones received the Spirit of Collaboration Award for connecting cancer control partners across the state for over a decade.
