Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa to unveil new youth mentoring center

151 wordsAll Latest News, Nonprofits and PhilanthropyBig Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa has announced the opening of its new Youth Mentoring Center and will host an open house at 2130 Grand Ave. in Des Moines on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held before the open house at 4 p.m. A press release said community members are invited to tour the new facility, learn more about the organization’s programs and explore volunteer opportunities. Big Brothers Big Sisters announced plans for the mentoring center in October 2023. “Our new youth mentoring center makes us more accessible and provides a safe and fun gathering place for our matches while also offering community space for outside organizations to use,” said BBBSIA CEO Bridget Cravens-Neely in a prepared statement. “This center also accommodates our growing team and programs. We have more space to interview families, Littles, and Bigs and form new mentoring matches.”
