Grand View University has announced its new Go Private. Pay Public and GV Next programs, which aim to reduce the cost of higher education for more Iowa students. Under the Go Private. Pay Public program, the out-of-pocket tuition cost for first-year Grand View students will not exceed $11,000 after applying federal and state grants and Grand View scholarships. According to a news release, the average tuition of Iowa’s three public universities is $11,000. Eligibility requirements include graduating from an Iowa high school and living on campus. “We believe that cost shouldn’t prevent students from choosing the school that is the best fit for them,” Grand View University President Rachelle Keck said in a prepared statement. “Our new Public Price Program ensures that every Iowa student, no matter their financial situation, has access to the personalized, high-quality education we offer.” Through GV Next, eligible Iowa students can attend Grand View tuition-free, the release said. The program is designed for students who qualify for the maximum Federal Pell Grant or have a parent with an adjusted gross income of $70,000 or less. The program also does not require students to live on campus. On Monday, Drake University also announced new programs to assist with tuition costs.
