BrokerTech Ventures adds the Hartford to carrier network

Des Moines-based BrokerTech Ventures (BTV), a broker-led convening platform for insurtech innovation, investment and collaboration, has announced its newest partnership with the Hartford, a property and casualty insurance, group benefits and mutual fund company based in Hartford, Conn. The Hartford brings experience in underwriting, claims management and risk mitigation strategies, according to a news release. With the addition, BTV’s network now includes 13 broker partners, 12 carrier and wholesaler partners, and a startup portfolio nearing 60 companies with a total investment of nearly $3 million. BTV has also made investments through the BrokerTech Fund, the first investment fund focused on advancing broker-centric technologies. “At The Hartford, searching for new ways to help our customers as they pursue their goals and ambitions has driven the innovation and ingenuity that define our more than 200-year history,” Matt Scott, Hartford’s head of commercial lines innovation and risk services, said in a prepared statement. “Through our partnership with BrokerTech Ventures, we can collaborate with insurtech startups and industry leaders to continue to develop transformative solutions that help businesses navigate risk and drive sustainable growth.”
