The Principal Foundation is expanding its partnership with the Des Moines Art Center with a new grant for general operations through 2025 to support youth programming. The grant will help maintain free admission and fund Principal Foundation’s MyVoice program, an art mentorship initiative for Des Moines-area youths, which the art center delivers in partnership with the By Degrees Foundation, a local nonprofit dedicated to increasing high school graduate rates. The program, now in its third year, offers art experiences to students from Findley Elementary School, Harding Middle School and North High School. The Principal Foundation is also making an additional contribution to the Art Center’s 75th Anniversary Campaign, including a 10-year commitment to youth programming, a news release said. The foundation’s contribution will help launch the Principal Foundation Youth Learning and Engagement Initiative, which will provide free access to current youth programs at the art center and enable creation of new youth programs.
