Greater Des Moines entrepreneur and startup supporter Tej Dhawan will take a new job Monday as chief data officer for Principal Financial Group, a finance giant that is one of the area’s biggest employers and way beyond startup status. Dhawan confirmed the news today after one of his bosses, Gary Scholten, spread the word on Twitter Wednesday night. “I’m super excited that @tejdhawan will join @principal Monday as chief data officer,” Scholten wrote. “Great match I expect fantastic results from!” Dhawan has been involved in a string of business accelerators and investments, including his work with Entrepreneurial Technologies. He said it’s too early to know what things might fall off his plate. “There are certain to be changes yet to be determined,” Dhawan said. “I naturally remain committed to my interest in startup mentoring/investing personally and professionally, as well as service on the Central College and Ballet Des Moines boards.”
