R&R adds a third industrial building at Prairie Business Park in Grimes

R&R Realty Group is building a third warehouse at its Prairie Business Park development in Grimes. “Demand continues to be at an all-time high for industrial space,” R&R President Mark Rupprecht said in a statement. “Our customer for this type of space is very diverse — the uses range from contemporary customers such as sports facilities and e-commerce fulfillment centers to traditional uses such as distribution and light manufacturing.” The building will be larger than the first two industrial buildings at 300,000 square feet. The Class A structure will have 32-foot ceilings — allowing for a 20 to 25 percent increase in pallet-holding capacity — and expanded trailer parking. The building will have high-tech sprinkler systems. The first Class A warehouse at Prairie Business Park offered 260,000 square feet and was completed in 2015. The second building, at 250,000 square feet, was completed in 2016. Prairie Business Park is located near the southeast corner of South James Street and Southeast 27th Street in Grimes, with direct access to soon to be expanded at Iowa Highway 141 and Interstate 80/35, offering an additional half-diamond interchange at Meredith Drive in Urbandale in 2020.
