What are your goals in your role at your company?
I have several goals in my role as founder and managing principal at KCL Engineering. I seek to develop and maintain great customer relationships, placing great emphasis on providing service with integrity. I work to inspire greatness in my employees while pushing them to be their best at work and at home. I strive to be a trusted advisor and consultant to our wonderful clients.

What are your goals for community involvement?
I am on the board of Break the Cycle 200. I am in charge of logistics for this 200-mile bike ride, which raises money and awareness of human trafficking. My role is to ensure the safety of 60-plus bike riders in this one-day bike ride from West Des Moines to Okoboji that we orchestrate every year in June.

What’s your biggest passion, and why?
My biggest passion is my family.  One of the reasons that I started KCL Engineering was so I could spend more time with my family and be there when they needed me. I didn’t want to miss watching my kids grow up or spending quality time with my wife.

What is it that drives you?
When I wake up every morning, I am excited about the new challenges that await each day. I get excited to collaborate with great people and to innovate solutions to unique engineering problems. When people tell me that I can’t do something, I use it as fuel to motivate myself to work even harder.

What are your future aspirations?
My aspiration for the future is to take the unique business model that I have developed at KCL Engineering into new markets around the country. I am excited to expand our borders by finding great talent and implementing the KCL business model in other areas.

1.) Kris is the founder and managing principal of KCL Engineering. He has an aptitude toward solving problems in math and science, combined with an entrepreneurial spirit, which laid the foundation for a one-of-a-kind engineering consulting firm in 2007.
2.) He has been involved in the Break the Cycle 200 (formerly known as OK 200) for the past six years and currently serves as a board member for this organization.
3.) He is an active member of Valley Church in West Des Moines and currently serves on the Servant Leadership Team.
4.) He actively serves the community in various organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, Meals From the Heartland and Night to Shine.
