Athena honorees, Male Champions of Change announced

Ten Quad City community leaders recently were named 2018 Athena and Male Champion of Change Award honorees by Iowa Women Lead Change — the Women’s Connection.

The Athena Awards are presented by the Connection and the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce to elevate and honor women who are setting a gold standard in their business and community leadership, and who are helping to bring along the next generation of female leaders.

The Male Champion for Change Award honors a man from the region who exhibits exceptional commitment to the acceleration of women in leadership and who uses his influence and talents to enhance gender diversity.

Athena honorees are:

  • Monica Forret, director of the Doctor of Business Administration Program at St. Ambrose University. 
  • LuAnn Haydon, retired manager of John Deere Global Visual Services.
  • Lisa Killinger, professor at Palmer College of Chiropractic.
  • Chris McCormick Pries, clinical director of Vera French.
  • Amy Nimmer, retired director of John Deere Global HR Operations. 


Male Champion of Change Award honorees are:

  • Brian Hollenback, president and CEO, Economic Growth Corp.
  • Daniel Huber, owner and CEO, Frontier Hospitality Group.
  • Christopher Hunter, outpatient rehab supervisor, Genesis Health Systems.
  • A.J. Loss, president and CEO, Bush Construction.
  • Joe Moreno, president, Quad-City Marathon.


The 2017 Athena Awards dinner and program will begin at 5:30 p.m. on March 29 at the Waterfront Convention Center in Bettendorf. Register online
