In partnership with the Miracle League, the city of Urbandale has announced the grand opening of the Urbandale Miracle Field at Northview Park. The Miracle Field will serve as the home base for all Urbandale Miracle League games for the 2018 season, with the first game kicking off on April 29. The facility at 4871 78th St. features a custom-designed, cushioned, rubberized surface that can accommodate wheelchairs and other assistive devices, allowing people with mental and physical disabilities the opportunity to play baseball. The field is part of a phased project to add barrier-free park amenities in Urbandale, including an all-inclusive playground near the field in the future. The public is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Urbandale Miracle Field on May 4 at 5 p.m., followed by an exhibition game at 6 p.m.
