Minnesota-based New Horizon Academy expands into Iowa

167 wordsAll Latest News, Education, Statewide NewsNew Horizon Academy, a Minnesota-based family-owned and -operated child care provider, has announced plans to open three child care centers in Greater Des Moines. Its Des Moines location will open in July at 550 S.W. Ninth St. in Gray’s Landing. The company today held a groundbreaking ceremony for a West Des Moines location at 9040 University Ave., which is expected to open in September. Next month, construction will begin for a third center, at 8633 Crescent Chase in Johnston, to open in October. The three schools will bring 530 child care openings for children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. “Our expansion team closely tracks demographics to identify communities that are experiencing population booms and analyze the need for child care resources for growing families,” said Chad Dunkley, CEO of New Horizon Academy, which has 60 locations concentrated primarily in the Twin Cities. “All around, Iowa was a natural choice for our national expansion and we look forward to becoming a part of the Des Moines community.”
