H.L. Munn Lumber, a 127-year-old Ames business, will be acquired by Mead Lumber Co., a regional operation with a corporate office in Columbus, Neb. Munn, which supplies lumber and materials to professional builders and commercial contractors, will continue to operate under its name and President Erik Munn and his management team will lead day-to-day operations, according to a release. Mead Lumber is employee-owned and ranks in the top 30 nationally for companies serving professional builders. The acquisition is Mead’s first entry into the Iowa market. In addition to Iowa and Nebraska, the company operates in Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming.
